Politics Of America’s Tariffs

Democrats spent the weekend celebrating the US Supreme Court ruling against Trump’s tariffs, which declared most of his taxes on imported goods as illegal. Those celebrations are premature. It’s not just that Trump immediately started to bring the tariffs back by other means. But also, the politics of tariffs are more complicated than Democrats want to pretend. And the real winner here isn’t Republicans, Democrats or everyday Americans, but only the Supreme Court itself.
