On February 27, Omani foreign minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi — a key mediator in the US-Iran nuclear talks that had concluded a day earlier in Geneva — told CBS News’ ‘Face the Nation’ that he was confident a peace deal between the US, Israel and Iran “is within our reach”. Negotiators, he said, had met to address Tehran’s nuclear programme in a bid to avert war.
