Left-wing extremism in India appears to be nearing its endgame, with most senior Maoist leaders either captured, killed, or persuaded to surrender in recent years.
The latest additions to this list are senior Communist Party of India (Maoist) functionary Thippiri Tirupathi alias Devuji and central committee member Malla Raji Reddy alias Sangram. Both surrendered before Telangana police chief B Shivadhar Reddy on February 24, just weeks ahead of the Modi government’s March 31, 2026 deadline to eliminate red terror nationwide.
