After nearly two decades of stalled talks, India and the European Union have struck a trade deal that reshapes access to one of the world’s largest markets.
On Tuesday (January 27), the two sides finalised what officials described as the “mother of all FTAs”, ending an 18-year negotiation. The agreement will gradually eliminate tariffs on 96% of exports on both sides, while keeping politically sensitive products such as cereals and dairy outside its scope.
